AVALON DANCE ODYSSEY (ADO)

Release of Liability Waiver

All participants must agree to this waiver before participating in any ADO event. If a participant is under the age of 18, a parent or guardian must also sign this form. ADO is a welcoming and inclusive all-ages community for freestyle dance that supports movement, free expression, community, physical and emotional health. By participating in an ADO event, you agree to the following. These agreements are part of our effort to create a safer space where community awareness and care are of most importance.

Waiver of Liability

I recognise and understand the risks of physical injury inherent to ecstatic dance and I fully assume those risks. I hereby release ADO, event sponsors, dance facilitators, employees and dancers of any kind that are involved in these events from all liability for injuries sustained or illnesses contracted while attending or participating in any ecstatic dances or ecstatic dance festivals. I will not hold ADO liable for any personal injury including, scrapes, bruises, cuts, sprains, fractures, broken bones, concussions, or death, which may occur before, during or after ecstatic dance events. I agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless ADO, dance facilitators, employees, and dancers of any kind that are involved in these events for liabilities, costs and judgments arising from acts of omissions committed by me or my child which result in injury or damage to any person or property.

Medical Attention

I recognise that dancing requires physical exertion which may be strenuous and may cause or aggravate physical injury and I am fully aware of and willingly assume the risk and hazards involved. As is the case with any strenuous exercise, I understand that there is a possibility of injury and that it is my responsibility to consult a physician regarding my ability to participate in dance prior to partaking in events held by ADO. I affirm that it is my responsibility to advise every dance facilitator/instructor or employee of any kind at ADO of any physical conditions, which may limit my participation in such events. Dance is not a substitute for medical attention, examination, diagnosis or treatment. Dance practice and/or specific movements are not recommended for individuals with certain medical conditions.

Photographs

To ensure the essence of ecstatic dance is maintained and respected, all participants must agree to withhold from the taking of any personal photography or videography before, during or after the dance events of the instructor and/or participants. Occasionally, ADO may engage in photography services and take photos/videography for the purpose of business promotion via social media, and reserves the right to take such photographs and videos during ecstatic dance events and ecstatic dance festivals. All participants will be notified of this prior to signing up for the dance and will be given the option to choose to not participate.

Respect For Others

Respecting others is of most importance to ADO. I agree to treat others with awareness and care to the best of my ability, including refraining from use of scented products, avoiding talking on the dance floors, not taking photos or videos, and not engaging in unsafe, unhealthy, or harassing behaviours towards others.

Protection of Property

I understand and agree that it is my sole responsibility to safeguard my personal property while attending or participating in any ecstatic dances, ecstatic dance festivals, workshops or events. I hereby release ADO, its affiliate dance studios, dance facilitators, event sponsors, and employees of any kind involved in these events from all liability for loss or damage to my personal property while attending or participating in dances, dance festivals or events.

I also agree to abide by any rules, regulations and policies set forth by ADO

Community Agreements

To ensure that all participants feel safe and welcome in this space, I ask that everyone collectively agrees and abides by the following guarding agreements:

Freeform dance. Feel free to express yourself and dance anyway you please.

No talking on the dance floor.

Substance free. No alcohol or drugs.

No shoes on the dance floor (unless you have a health condition that does not allow for this).

Please refrain from taking any pictures or video.

Please refrain from wearing strong perfumes or scents.

Enjoy the journey. If you can get out of your head and into your heart.

Listen for a “yes.” Get eye contact before approaching another dancer.

Respect any “no.” Please put up a hand if you would prefer to be left alone.

Respect each other's space. Hands in prayer at heart means “I see you, and thank you for the dance.”

Acknowledgement of Waiver

In signing this release, I acknowledge and represent that I have fully informed myself of the content of the waiver and hold harmless agreement by reading it before I sign it, and I understand that I sign this document as my own free act and deed; no oral representations, statements, or inducements, apart from the written statement, have been made. I further state that I am at least eighteen (18) years of age and I am fully competent to sign this agreement; and that I execute this release for full, adequate, and complete consideration fully intending to be bound by the same. I further state that there are no health-related reasons or problems which preclude or restrict my participation in this activity, and that I will pay any medical costs that may be attendant as a result of injury of me.
